"Talk With Me" Services

"Talk With Me" is a community health service of the ACADIE-BATHURST Health Authority and is provided by Public Health.

"Talk With Me" is a new and innovative service for preschoolers (ages 0 to 5) and their family. The program is a community-based service focusing on the prevention of communication delays and the promotion of healthy communication skills.

Program speech-language pathologists hold meetings with families on such topics as "Helping Your Child Learn to Talk," "Helping Your Baby to Say His First Words," "Preparing Your Child to Read," "Growing Up in a Bilingual Environment," etc. These meetings help to provide parents with the information and tools needed to increase their child’s chances of success. These information sessions are open to parents and stakeholders. Some of the meetings require the child’s participation (all sessions are provided free of charge).

Services provided by the "Talk With Me" program are also available to the general population through public meetings and various communication mediums (information booklets, brochures on language development, handout material on pre-literacy, etc.).

The "Talk With Me" program also offers training sessions to all early childhood professionals: daycare workers, early intervention program stakeholders, nurses, social workers, physicians, etc. (all sessions are provided in the community).
